Conquering Stress and Anxiety: My Journey and Tips for You

In 2016, life took an unexpected turn for me as I ventured into the world of business ownership alongside my husband. We embarked on a new journey, opening an executive-style fitness studio, but this exciting endeavor also came with its fair share of challenges. I had no prior experience in running a business, and the weight of financial insecurity and illiteracy bore down on me. The stress and anxiety that ensued were overwhelming, leading to sleepless nights, anxiety attacks, heart palpitations, and a constant feeling of breathlessness. It seemed as if hopelessness had taken over.


Over the years, I embarked on a quest to find effective ways to manage and ultimately overcome stress and anxiety. I discovered valuable techniques that not only helped me regain control of my life but also allowed me to live with gratitude and in the present moment. In this blog post, I'll share some of these techniques with you, so you too can find relief from the burdens of stress and anxiety.


1. Exercise:

- Exercise played a pivotal role in my journey to wellness. Regular physical activity is known to release endorphins, the body's natural mood lifters, which can help combat stress and anxiety.

- It doesn't have to be intense; even a daily walk or a yoga session can make a significant difference.

- Find an activity you enjoy to make it a sustainable part of your routine. It can be dancing, swimming, or simply stretching exercises.


2. Deep Breathing:

- Deep breathing exercises are a quick and effective way to calm your nervous system. They help reduce anxiety and promote relaxation.

- Try the 4-7-8 technique: Inhale for a count of 4, hold for 7, and exhale for 8. Repeat this several times, focusing on your breath and nothing else.

- Incorporate deep breathing into your daily routine, especially during moments of stress or before bedtime.


3. Meditation:

- Meditation is a powerful tool for grounding yourself and finding inner peace. It trains your mind to stay present and reduces the impact of anxiety-inducing thoughts.

- Start with short meditation sessions, gradually extending the duration as you become more comfortable.

- Guided meditation apps and online resources can be immensely helpful for beginners.


My journey from overwhelming stress and anxiety to a place of peace and gratitude was not an easy one, but it was certainly worth the effort. By incorporating regular exercise, deep breathing exercises, and meditation into my daily life, I was able to regain control over my mental and emotional well-being.
